know us

I’m Ruby, a self-taught ceramicist based in South Wales. I work from a garden studio built by my partner, with walls sculpted using ancient cobbing techniques and the space, made from salvaged and natural materials, feels both homely and grounding — a fitting place to work with clay. My partner and I work as a great team, he is a fantastic photographer which helps to capture my work, and he and I collaborate creatively and with our business ideas and plans.

Before ceramics, I spent many years working alongside people from all walks of life — those living with dementia, with complex health conditions, children and adults with learning difficulties, and refugees coming from all sorts of backgrounds. Later, I qualified as a nurse. These experiences gave me a deep understanding of the complexities of people’s lives, and the many different ways we carry our stories.

I believe it’s incredibly important to nourish the creative side of ourselves. Working with a natural material like clay can be grounding, restorative, connecting, and a powerful way to support both wellbeing and identity. There is something deeply satisfying and inspiring about shaping earth into something beautiful — and I love that functional pottery doesn’t just sit on a shelf, but is used, held, and woven into everyday life.

For me, clay has been a tool of healing and recovery — tactile, forgiving, and timeless. My hope is that through my pieces, courses, and workshops, others can find the same sense of connection, creativity, and calm
